This recording remained in a drawer for almost fifty years and we decided to publish it because we think it is a document that fully represents an important artistic moment. In the seventies of the last century, music, like all artistic movements, aimed to overcome the barriers between different genres. Leonard Bernstein's television programs intended for the general public and Luciano Berio's subsequent ones had as their common theme the overcoming of stylistic barriers. The Gruppo di Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza had precisely this objective and within it there were different personalities: from Ennio Morricone, already at the height of his success as a composer of music for cinema, to Giancarlo Schiaffini, an esteemed jazz musician but an active collaborator of John Cage, Luigi Nono and Giacinto Scelsi, up to Franco Evangelisti, Alessandro Sbordoni and other composers of more academic origins. In this work, masterfully recorded live in analogue in 1977, different references shine through between typically "contemporary" sounds, oriental exoticism up to jazz and musical concretism, fully representing the artistic aspirations of a courageous and utopian era.
